Be a guest in a small house in a remote village named Oktyabrsky in the centre of Kola Peninsula. Your host Sergei will show you how they survive in the Russian Arctic. He and his wife Elena live in a cozy small house in village Oktyabrsky, what was a formal forestry village; it had a sawing mill for making lodges. Since 10 years the sawing mill is closed and people went away to the cities to find work. Some stayed in the village and continued their usual live. The host will certainly tell you about that time.
The guesthouse has a more person sleeping room (up to 6 persons), kitchen and cozy sitting room (with a bed sofa for 2 persons more) with a fire place. In summer there is a water closet in the house. For winter there is a "spare" toilet outside the house. In the garden is a very nice sauna "in a barrel" and a Jacuzzi (hot tub) under open sky (both with wood stoves).
You can choose from bed and breakfast until a full board stay.
Oktyabrsky is located 35 km east from Kirovsk city close to Khibiny and Lovozero Tundra and surrounded by forest.
The host has snowmobiles and is a cross-country ski lover. Every winter he makes his own track by his snowmobile. You have possibility to go for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing on the best slopes of NW Russia in Kirovsk, ice fishing and watching Aurora Borealis (northern lights). In summer you can go fishing, biking, quad driving, hiking, berry and mushroom picking.
Feel yourself local under the locals!
